On 17 October 2025, Collegium Humanisticum at Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) in Toruń hosted a historical and educational forum entitled “The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Region in the Past”. The event was co-organized by the Department of Education of the Marshal's Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province and the Faculty of History at NCU in Toruń. The conference was scheduled to present the current state of knowledge on the region's past, based on the recent findings from historical and archaeological research.
The forum was addressed to researchers interested in the history of the Pomerania and Kuyavia region, museum curators, as well as enthusiasts, teachers and students. The conference was inaugurated by a lecture by Prof. Wojciech Chudziak of the Institute of Archaeology at NCU in Toruń, which was entitled "The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Region in the era of the First Piasts (Bolesław Chrobry and Mieszko II). A significant component of the lecture involved a panel discussion featuring Prof. Przemysław Urbańczyk, Dr. Dariusz Karczewski, and Prof. Leszek Słupecki (online), moderated by Dr. Piotr Pranke.
The forum programme comprised workshops and presentations that were dedicated to history teachers under the theme “Sources for regional history – how to work with them? – presentation of sources”. This session was chaired by archaeologist Dr. Jacek Bojarski and historian Dr. Michał Targowski. A film on the history of the region was screened for students, who were also invited to attend workshops organised by the research clubs of the Faculty of History at NCU in Toruń. The conference succeeded in fostering integration among a diverse audience interested in acquiring knowledge about the history of Pomerania and the Kuyavia region, including researchers, teachers, and students.
