“Roman Ingarden’s Digital Archives” as digital scholarly edition

Abstract

Roman Ingarden's Digital Archives is certainly a publication of great value due to its novelty. However, despite the many advantages perceived in this publication and the positive visual impression, it does not meet all the conditions of a scientific digital edition as of today. First, one can have reservations about the scientific nature of this publication - primarily due to the lack of an editorial note explaining at least the basic decisions of the authors, as well as the absence of a scientific apparatus in the form of commentaries and footnotes. Secondly, the digital paradigm was only partially realized in the edition and only in the case of less important issues. First of all, the TEI standard was not applied. Also missing is the association of scans with transcription and the ability to perform operations on the text. The recipient is also deprived of access to data including the download function.
