Abstract

The authors report on the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project. Its purpose is to reunite the manuscripts of Samuel Beckett’s works in a digital way, and to facilitate genetic research: the project brings together digital facsimiles of documents that are now preserved in different holding libraries, and adds transcriptions of Beckett’s manuscripts, tools for bilingual and genetic version comparison, a search engine, and an analysis of the textual genesis of his works.

Wraz z Markiem Nixonem jest współdyrektorem Beckett Digital Manuscript Project (www.beckettarchive.org), redaktorem serii Cambridge UP „Elements in Beckett Studies” oraz redaktorem naczelnym „Journal of Beckett Studies”. Opublikował książki: Textual Awareness: A Genetic Study of Late Manuscripts by Joyce, Proust, and Mann (2004), Modern Manuscripts: The Extended Mind and Creative Undoing from Darwin to Beckett and Beyond (2014), Samuel Beckett’s Library (2013, z M. Nixonem), The New Cambridge Companion to Samuel Beckett (2015), James Joyce’s Work in Progress (2016), Genetic Criticism (2022), Beckett Digital Library, zredagował szereg publikacji z serii „Making of” (Bloomsbury) oraz przygotował wydania genetyczne w ramach Beckett Digital Manuscript Project. W 2019 roku zdobył nagrodę Prize for a Bibliography, Archive or Digital Project of the Modern Language Association (MLA).

Vincent Neyt, Uniwersytet w Antwerpii

pracownik wydziału wiedzy o literaturze Uniwersytetu w Antwerpii. Jest członkiem zespołu Antwerpskiego Centrum Humanistyki Cyfrowej i Badań Literackich, gdzie pracuje m.in. nad projektem Beckett Digital Manuscript Project. Autor wielu artykułów, których tematyka oscyluje wokół cyfrowych edycji rękopisów i tekstów literackich.
