Artykuł jest tłumaczeniem tekstu M. W. Younga, The Careless Collector: Malinowski and the Antiquarians zawartego w publikacji. Hunting The Gatherers. Ethnographic Collectors, Agents and Agency in Melanesia, 1870s-1930s, Edited by Michael O`Hanlon and Robert L. Welsch, Berghahn Books, New York–Oxford, 2000, pp. 181-202. Redakcja zdecydowała o zastąpieniu słowa „antykwariusze”, mającego w polskim języku dodatkowe konotacje, określeniem „muzealnicy”. Czytelników anglojęzycznych zachęcamy do zapoznania się z oryginałem. Polskie Towarzystwo Ludoznawcze uzyskało zgodę na tłumaczenie od wydawnictwa Berghahn Books. Ponieważ nie udało się uzyskać praw do reprodukcji zdjęć wskazanych przez autora, redakcja zdecydowała się je pominąć.
