The article examines in detail the challenges and problems that the museum community has faced lately as a result of the global upheavals of the 2020s – the COVID-19 pandemic, political and social crises. The historical context of the development of Belarusian museums, the specifics of their transition from the old Soviet attitudes and norms to a new democratic paradigm of existence in the global world are analyzed. Searching for their identity, Belarusian museums still have to go through a difficult path of transformation and cognitive reassessment, the search for new forms of interaction with society and professional adaptation to changes.
