Museology ethnography vs climate change. Voice in the matter

Abstract

Climate crisis brings about a number of disquieting phenomena such as expanding drought areas, massive migrations, floods, wars or famine. The conditions of life of millions of people have been  dramatically changed and their works and past life style drastically transmuted. These changes happening before our very eyes make museums actively join the debate concerning global climate disaster. Museums are public institutions of  social trust which are obliged to act in the interest of  citizens and culture they create. Ethnographic institutions should play  a special role in this process as they should not only register the changes that are taking place  but explain them suggesting solutions used in the past.  That’s why museums ought to be extensively present in education which will help local communities’ members  realise how global climate change affects their daily life and what they can do to minimise them.
