sudden death, monesin, calvesAbstract
Cases of sudden death of 9 calves a few days old have been described. The post-mortem
pathological picture suggested E. coli infection. It was also isolated from tissue samples. The
violent course indicated poisoning. The analyzed feed sample showed an increased level of
monesin. After the withdrawal of forbidden pasture, the cases described above did not
repeat.
