Jerzy Bartmiński (1939–2022) – distinguished Polish ethnolinguist and folklorist, professor at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He was the author and editor of numerous monographs and volumes, including O języku folkloru (1973), Folklor – język – poetyka (1990), Polskie kolędy ludowe (2002), Jazykovoj obraz mira: Očerki po etnolingvistike (Moskwa 2005), Językowe podstawy obrazu świata (2006), Stereotypy mieszkają w języku (2007), Aspects of Cognitive Ethnolinguistics (London 2009), Tekstologia (2009), Jezyk – slika – svet (Belgrad 2011). He conceptualized and edited Słownik stereotypów i symboli ludowych as well as the volume Lubelskie in the series Polska Pieśń i Muzyka Ludowa. Źródła i Materiały (vol. 4, 2011). He also started the journal Etnolingwistyka and worked as the Chief Editor for many years.
