Abstrakt

Badania nad genomem zmieniają naszą wiedzę o sekwencjach w DNA nie tylko kodujących, ale i niekodujących (ncDNA). Wykazano, że sekwencje w ncDNA nie są tylko nadmiarowym elementem łączącym poszczególne geny, ale mają liczne funkcje: od regulacyjnych po strukturalne. Stanowią elementy złożonego sytemu warunkującego tworzenie wzorców ekspresji genów na różnych etapach rozwoju, różnicowania i wzrostu komórek. Artykuł skupia się na sekwencjach cis-regulatorowych takich jak: wzmacniacze, wyciszacze, sekwencje LCR, insulatory i sekwencje UTR. Dotychczasowe rozumienie pojęcia „kodująca i niekodująca sekwencja w DNA” zmieniło definicję i będzie ona ulegała dalszym modyfikacjom w miarę postępu badań na genomem.
