Abstract

This article examines the introduction and specific practices of integrated spatial planning in Ukraine in the context of its European integration course, administrative-territorial reform, and martial law imposed as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion. It outlines the theoretical foundations of an integrated approach to spatial development, which ensures the holistic development of territories by combining various economic sectors, social issues, and environmental protection. It analyzes the current spatial planning system in Ukraine, its institutional features, and key challenges. Four periods of integrated spatial planning implementation are identified: the pre-2014 period within the post-Soviet spatial planning model; 2014–2020, characterized by European integration and decentralization; 2020–2022, when the formalization of integrated spatial planning tools began; and the post-February 24, 2022 period, defined by the challenges of the full-scale war. ...
