Trauma and museum exhibition. How to create an exhibition related to traumatic experiences ?

Abstract

In the article, the author presents the solutions used during the arrangement of the first temporary exhibition of the Sybir Memorial Museum [Memorial Museum Siberia], entitled ‘Only Pain is Mine’, which presents various aspects of the reality of women and girls - their tragic experiences of deportation, exile, imprisonment in the Soviet Union or during the Soviet occupation, mainly in the context of broadly understood femininity, women's bodies and their roles. The article discusses the issue of working with the themes of trauma, traumatization and violence against women addressed in activities carried out during exhibition and education projects.
