Sleep is a fundamental physiological process essential for physical and cognitive functioning, recovery, and overall health. In athletes, adequate sleep duration and quality are particularly important due to high physical and psychological demands associated with training and competition. Insufficient or poor-quality sleep may impair athletic performance and post-exercise recovery and has also been suggested as a potential factor associated with an increased risk of sports-related injuries. Therefore, optimizing sleep has become an important component of athlete health, recovery, and performance management.
