Abstract

This paper examines the value, logic, and pathways of AI‑empowered digital textbook development. AI empowerment entails a threefold value: underpinning an autonomous textbook system, cultivating well‑rounded talents, and driving the digital transformation of teachers. The development of textbooks is undergoing three constructive shifts—namely, a goal shift from knowledge‑centeredness to learner‑centeredness, a modality shift from one‑way transmission to two‑way construction, and a content shift from closed rigidity to open integration. The practical pathways encompass four dimensions: top‑level design, content development, social environment, and teacher empowerment. In essence, AI‑empowered digital textbook development represents a structural reshaping of the educational ecosystem, serving as a critical pillar for fulfilling the fundamental mission of fostering virtue and cultivating talent and for promoting high‑quality educational development.
