The text is adapted to print the record of transcribed panel discussion moderated by Professor Maria Dudzikowa (Adam Mickiewicz University). Discussion took place on June 26, 2012, during an open meeting of the Committee on Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, hosted by Faculty of Education Sciences at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The aims of the discussion focused on: 1) self-assessment of the level of academic writing skills of the the young scholars in the field of education studies, 2) identification of barriers in learning the art of academic writing and its improvement, and – what is more – the opportunities and conditions of overcoming these barriers (both internal and external). The panelists discussed the issue of academic writing in three aspects: person – process – work. Discussion took place in three rounds to answer three questions: How is it? (identification of the main problems associated with the panel, dilemmas, aporias, paradoxes, etc.); What conditions are needed to change academic writing into an art?; What can we do/ /improve HERE/NOW?
