School bullying is one of the educational problems which is the subject of many theoretical and empirical studies. Research conducted in this area is mostly quantitative in nature and used various questionnaires, the self-report method dominates, which comes down to the direct questioning of students about how often, when and where they experienced different forms of violence. This article presents another method of collecting empirical data that can be used in peer violence research. This is the method of episodes (vignettes). Characteristics of this data collection method and indication of research aims that can be achieved by this method are presented in the text. The article also presents empirical exemplification of the use of this method in educational studies devoted to peer violence. It has been shown that this method of data collection creates a broad spectrum of possibilities for its use in studies addressing the problem of school bullying from the students’ and teachers’ perspective.
