The first part of the article briefly describes the selected initiatives and the utilization of music folklore in times of independent Interwar Poland. The next section examines how folk music was forced into the ideology of the new social reality after World War Two, shaped by military and political hegemony of the USSR. The conclusion explores the significance of the relationship between folk music and politics in the context of contemporary phenomena related to globalization and the political processes that accompany it.
