Acmella oleracea – czy natura znalazła alternatywę dla botoksu?

Acmella oleracea to niezwykła, choć mało znana rodzina będąca przedstawicielem szerokiej grupy gatunków z rodziny Astrowatych. Jednak w przeciwieństwie do innych repre-zentantów tej samej grupy cechuje się niezwykłymi właściwościami, które znalazły szerokie zastosowanie w różnych sferach życia człowieka. Acmella jest nie tylko rośliną cenioną za swoje zastosowanie kulinarne (liście używane są do przyrządzania różnorodnych sałat), ale przede wszystkim za szerokie wykorzystywanie do celów medycznych. Od uśmierzania bólu zębów (stąd jedna z nazw „roślina od bólu zęba” – „toothache plant”) poprzez działanie antyseptyczne (działa na wiele grup patogenów) aż po działanie stricte kosmetyczne – ekstrakt z Acmella oleracea jest uważany za naturalną alternatywę dla botoksu. Ekstrakt ten zawiera spilantol – substancję należącą do grupy alkiloamidów. Stosowany zewnętrznie zmniejsza napięcie mięśni, przyczyniając się tym samym do redukcji zmarszczek mimicz-nych twarzy. Dowodem działania spilantolu są przytoczone w niniejszym artykule dwa badania, które jednoznacznie wskazują na skuteczność tej substancji. Zatem czas przyznać, że natura kolejny raz zaskoczyła człowieka – stworzyła alternatywę – bezpieczną i nietoksyczną, ale równie skuteczną jak toksyna botulinowa – „ziołowy botoks”.Bibliografia
