All the manuscripts were brought there after the end of WW II, mostly in the years 1945-1947, and were placed among the so-called “protected collections”. Currently the collection consists of 770 inventory units and 6 linear metres of uncatalogued material. Today’s collection of 71 medieval manuscripts of NCU library constitute mainly old collections of the State and University Library in Königsberg. They comprise religious works, legal works, and historical, medical and astronomical texts.<br />Another library which stores medieval manuscripts is Copernicus Voivodeship Public Library in Toruń. Its collections consists of 19 manuscripts (e.g. calendars, prayer books, the lives of the saints) from the period until 1500, written in Latin, German and Greek.<br />A considerable number of medieval official books generated in the office files of the Old and the New Towns of Toruń are kept in the State Archive in Toruń. The collection includes also manuscripts similar to those found in the library. ER -
