The geopolitical concepts dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, mainly Inter Sea Initiative, were considered again. This concept covers the coun-tries from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. We can also find the considerations re-lated to the countries of this region among American strategists – Zbigniew Brze-zinski, George Friedman, Tim Marshall and others. Each of them pays attention to the geopolitical location of countries covered by the concept of Inter Sea Initiative. The USA views on Central and Eastern Europe are fairly consistent – the states should cooperate more closely with each other. While analyzing the concept of Inter Sea Initiative in different historical periods, it seems that this cooperation is impossible, the states are rather divided than united. The main element being the reason for the divisions is historical memory, while the connecting element, which is much weaker than the dividing factors, is the fear of the eastern neighbor – Rus-sia. The article analyzes Ukrainian views on the concepts of Inter Sea Initiative in the context of the current political situation.</p> ER -
