Artykuł omawia zmieniające się w czasie (od lat trzydziestych XX wieku do chwili obecnej) podejścia i oceny dotyczące angielskiej poezji o I wojnie. Nowe spojrzenie, biorące pod uwagę badania historyków i socjologów prowadzone w nowym stuleciu, ukazuje nieco inny obraz wojny i sposobów jej upamiętniania. Schematyczne, zbyt powierzchowne opinie i sądy dotyczące rozwoju tej poezji (od wierszy heroicznych do poezji pacyfistycznej) ulegają rewizji i podlegają nowym ocenom. Autor zwraca też uwagę na potrzebę uwzględnienia w nowej historii angielskiej poezji o I wojnie twórczości osób niebiorących w niej bezpośredniego udziału oraz poezji kobiecej.Bibliografia
